Producing Performance Reports

If you think that your computer is not running smoothly, is slow or crashes too much, run performance reports.

To run performance reports follow these instructions:

  1. Click the circle to the right of the start button (or in the box next to start button), and type "performance monitor", at the top of the list that displys you should see a perfomanace monitor desktop app., click it.
  2. In the left column click on Data Collection to expand itand then system to expand that item.
  3. Now right click on "System Performance" and click start.  Do the same for "System Diagnostics".
  4. Click on "Reports" and then "System" and then expand each of the items there.
  5. It will take a few minutes but eventually reports will be procuded which you can open to see if there are any highlighted issues.

In addition the event viewer can be used to provide some insight into potential problems.  However, you should be aware that it is not unusual to see errors in the event viewer log so having an expert eye assess these may be worth considering.  Generally though, if your computer is running well these error can be ignored, don't be conned by someone contacting you and telling you there is an issue with your computer.
